Abdelaziz Taleb is a mixed media artist, filmmaker, producer, archival artist, and curator with over two decades of experience. Born in Agadir, Morocco.He completed a scholarship at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) between 1999 and 2001, before embarking on an international career in filmmaking and media arts. In 2010, he founded the Arab Media Lab (AML), an interdisciplinary platform dedicated to developing artists’ programs, innovative projects, critical discussions, workshops, and training initiatives.

In 2003, Taleb was recognized by the World Wide Video Festival as one of the emerging talents expected to shape the future of global video and media art. His films and video worksoften described as extensions of his own body engage with poetic imagery, questions of inner identity, spiritual transformation, and complex social realities. His work has been presented at numerous Academy-accredited film and media art festivals and institutions, including the Berlinale, Venice International Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Festival International du Cinéma Méditerranéen Montpellier, Freewaves Los Angeles, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, CCCB Barcelona, the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam, the Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven, and Villa des Arts in Casablanca and Rabat, among others.

Under his artistic direction, AML has initiated and sustained several major projects, most notably the Digital Marrakech International Festival, which took place over eight consecutive editions despite limited arts funding in Morocco. The festival focuses on independent and experimental cinema, creative documentary, video and digital art, video installations, and 3D mapping. Further initiatives include Planet of the Arabs, Tangier Interzone Series, Media Art Morocco, Rooftop Films Marrakech, Marrakech Unfiltered, and numerous other collaborative projects. In parallel, Taleb curated numerous workshops and training programs for local artists in Morocco and across the MENA region, focusing on professional development and empowering artists to take ownership of their own image and artistic trajectory. He has also produced films and media art works for many artists in the region.

Alongside his artistic practice, Taleb remains actively engaged in curatorial work both locally and internationally. He regularly serves as a mentor and jury member for festivals and cultural institutions, including Berlinale Talents, the Prince Claus Fund, Africa in the Picture, Villa des Arts in Casablanca & Rabat, and others. Most recently, he contributed to the publication Archaeology of New Media Arts in the Arab World, released by Diriyah Art Futures and the Museums Commission of Saudi Arabia.

He lives and works in Germany.
